Transliterated title: Kitaaboo Foloota.
The document is a Mandinka Ajami poem entitled Kitaaboo Foloota (English: The Book Began), which alludes to the beginning of the Quran. The poem praises God and Prophet Muḥammad and teaches tawḥid (English: oneness of God). It was copied by the owner’s father. The poem is very popular among Mandinka scholars and has been found in several different collections.
Custodial history: The manuscript owner inherited it after his father's death. His father was born in Badieba in Guinea Bissau. He had an advanced Islamic education.
