Transliterated title: Biniiboo.
Contains a collection of several panegyric poems (Arabic: Madḥ) praising Prophet Muhammad. The poems celebrate his struggles, virtues, and success in the nascent days of Islam. They are written in Arabic with interlinear and marginal glosses in Mandinka Ajami and Arabic. The more recent glosses are written with a blue pen. There are several colophons in the poems that indicate their authors. Mouhamadou Amine Bayo wrote one of the poems, and his son Ousmane Bayo wrote the other. Ousmane Bayo is the father of the current owner of the manuscript (El-hadji Lamine Bayo). The poem written by Ousmane Bayo has more extensive interlinear and marginal glosses in Mandinka and Arabic. Red ink is sometime used to highlight key words. The documents were digitized at Hotel Nema-Kadior, Ziguinchor, Senegal.
Custodial history: The owner, El-hadji Lamine Bayo, received the materials from his father (Ousmane Bayo) before he passed away in 2015 in Ziguinchor.
Extent and format of original material: 409 pages.
Physical characteristics: Unbound manuscript wrapped with string. This manuscript has very brittle pages, making parts of the text difficult to read, especially near the frayed edges of the page. There are ink stains throughout the manuscript, and some pages are torn. Last four pages are images of the watermarks found on the paper. One of the watermarks clearly has the text "GRAHAMS BOND" and "REGISTERED".
Owner(s) of original material: El-hadji Lamine Bayo.
Author(s) of original material: Mouhamadou Amine Bayo; Ousmane Bayo.
Additional script information: Mandinka Ajami.
