The manuscript is a copy of the original written in Mandinka Ajami by Sitookoto Dabo, one of the most famous Mandinka Ajami poets of Senegambia. The poem combines praises of God for His protection and mercy with prayers for peace, health, long life, and protection from Satan, among other things.
Custodial history: The owner inherited it from his father's young brother, Ablaye Bayo. He had an advanced Islamic education and served as a Quranic teacher and a marabout (religious leader and healer) in the village of Kignini in Kolda.
