Transliterated title: Kombo Niŋ Kaabu Tariikoo.
The manuscript provides the origin of the different Mandinka family names and the migrations of the Mandinka people of Kaabu in Guinea Bissau to southwestern Gambia, which resulted in the Kombo Mandinka communities. The document also deals with interactions that the Mandinka from Kaabu had with other communities during their migrations that resulted in their adoptions of new family names. The manuscript was copied from the original, which is kept in Kaabu-Kansala in Guinea Bissau, the capital of the former Mandinka Kingdom of Kaabu (1537-1867).
Custodial history: The owner inherited it from his father Nouha Diabang. His father was born in 1906 in Fogny-Dianna in the region of Ziguinchor, Senegal and died in 1984 in Gunjur in The Gambia.
Extent and format of original material: 65 pages.
Physical characteristics: Hardcover bound manuscript in a lined notebook (digitized text starts at page 156). Due to the poor conservation condition and ink stains, some words may be difficult to read.
