ff. 1-24: 13 Letters to Lady Bessborough from George Canning, 1804-1807, many of them concerning Lord Granville, and the post to St Petersburg. Five of the letters were stored in a satin purse at the time of accession (now Add MS 89382/3/7).
ff. 25-51: 11 letters between Lady Bessborough, her niece Harriet Cavendish, later Harriet Leveson-Gower, Countess Granville (1785-1862), and Lord Granville, Harriet Cavendish’s husband.

- Letter from Lady Bessborough to her niece Harriet Cavendish (later Leveson-Gower, Countess Granville). Dated 19 November 1809, 6 weeks before her wedding to Lord Granville. Confessing their relationship, the birth of their two children, their changed relations since Lord Granville’s return from Russia, need for discretion, etc. Probably the letter seen in November by Lord Granville and given to Harriet after their wedding on 24 December 1809, discussed in his letters to Lady Bessborough, 24 November and 27 December 1809 (Add MS 89382/2/3). 1809.
