Column 1: Petition concerning the repayment of a loan, presumably from a certain Theoxena, who is mentioned in Column 2 as well. The recipient is lost
Column 2: Agreement to secure the release of a prisoner. The guarantor undertakes to produce the prisoner whenever required within three days; penalty applies should they fail to do so.

Two larger papyrus fragments and three unplaced scraps from mummy cartonnage, with surface damage throughout; bearing writing on both sides, along the fibres on the front and across them on the back. The front contains portions of two columns; the back was rotated 180 degrees and is defaced.
The papyrus diplays modern repairs of the early XX century and is housed in a glass case.

Script: Recto: Column 1: neat, regular, medium-sized cursive hand; Column 2: larger, rougher and thicker uncial hand. Verso: Small cursive hand.

Origin: Itos (Edfa) (?), Panopolite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Panopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 216-228 from the Reverend Greville John Chester (b. 1830, d. 1892) on 14 May 1892. Papyri 219-228 were taken from the cartonnage of a mummy case.
