Three fragments from mummy cartonnage.
Upper fragment: The front preserves portions of 20 lines; a sheet-join runs across the fibres along the height; the text on the back is covered by a different sheet glued onto it.
Middle fragment: small fragment with remains of 4 lines on the front and 5 lines on the back alongside traces of red ink.
Lower fragment: On the front there are traces of 16 lines, on the back remains of 10 lines.

Dimensions: Upper fragment: 86 x 70 mm; middle fragment: 27 x 35 mm; lower fragment: 66 x 74 mm. Housed in a glass case measuring 215 x 180 mm.
Script: Recto: Small, square and thick hand with few ligatured letters. Verso: Rough, small, thick cursive hand.

Origin: Egypt.
Provenance: Panopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 216-228 from the Reverend Greville John Chester (b. 1830, d. 1892) on 14 May 1892. Papyri 219-228 were taken from the cartonnage of a mummy case.
