Fragment of papyrus from mummy cartonagge, with surface damage throughout; written on one side along the fibres with the back blank. It contains the upper left portion of one column with parts of 16 lines and traces of a preceding column. The upper margin is extant, the other margins are lost. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

Script: Skilled and regular upright semi-cursive hand exhibiting affinities with the contemporary literary hands.

Provenance: Panopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 216-228 from the Reverend Greville John Chester (b. 1830, d. 1892) on 14 May 1892. Papyri 219-228 were taken from the cartonnage of a mummy case.
