• 12 Aug 1981. Typed letter from Susan Hogg: 'I was so pleased to get your letter about republishing Bill's poetry. Your suggestion to reprint in one volume a sequence of the major poems is a good one, as Bill certainly conceived of them as a sequence.'
• 31 Aug 1981. Typed letter from Hogg: 'I have heard from Mike Hughes [literary executor] and he has given the go-ahead for your proposed volume'.
• 22 Nov 1981. Typed letter from Hogg, enclosing typed letter (6 Oct 1981) from Hughes to Hodgkiss setting out terms of publication.
• 3 Jan 1982. Typed letter (2 sheets) from Hogg, referring to corrections to the proposed texts.
• 29 May 1982. Typed letter (1 sheet) from Eric Mottram enclosing his typed 'Introduction' (3 sheets) to the book.
• 26 Jun 1982. Autograph note from Mottram enclosing a copy of the folded broadsheet New Yorkshire Writing, No. 3 (Winter 1978) which includes three short poems by Butler (all 1977) and a bio/bibliographical note on Butler by Susan Hogg.
