Greek Military Coup Correspondence
- Scope & Content:
-
Carbon copies of letters sent by Stephanides to The Daily Telegraph and several political groups regarding the military coup in Greece, and Stephanides' view that, whilst he does not approve of any form of dictatorship, perhaps the coup was justified due to the real threat of communists taking over the country, and his belief that these political groups against the coup are being used as a ‘catspaw’ to further the agenda of communists; the political groups contacted include: Committee for the Restoration of Democracy in Greece, Komite for Demokrati i Hellas, and the Greek Committee Against Dictatorship; also present are copies of two documents written by Stephanides: The Ten Commandments of the Greek Deputy, and The Ten Commandments of the Greek ‘Liberator.’
