- Scope & Content:
-
(1). Correspondence:
- 29 Jan 1985. Autograph letter, Tony Baker to Peter Hodgkiss: 'Enclosed is a photocopy of the Kleinzahler poems [...] My inclination, if you do like the ms. - now to be entitled "Dainties & Viands" - is to leave it with you for QJ/BJ, even tho I'd wanted Abdullah von Clef's poems under a FIGlet label (so he signs himself).' (For the photocopy typescript, see below.)
- [Feb 1985]. Undated typed letter from Baker to Hodgkiss: 'just heard from AK who's happy enough for you to take the ms. [...] Can I leave the decision till I hear from EMA [East Midland Arts] who meet in March (early I'm told); if they give me the bread then I'll get the Matlock printer to do it, if not then you have it as a BIG (hard) JOB?'
- [March 1985]. Undated typed letter from Baker to Hodgkiss: 'Just spoken to the East Mid Arts man on the phone re. the Kleinzahler & am mildly pissed off that it seems they never seriously considered my application as an application, more as a statement of intent for the future [...] Looks like August's mss. is yours.'
- 24 Mar 1985. Typed letter (carbon) from Hodgkiss to Kleinzahler: 'Tony Baker asked me to write to you about publishing your collection of 8 poems.'
- 1 Apr 1985, San Francisco. Typed letter, Kleinzahler to Hodgkiss, accepting the offer to publish and supplying collection title. 'I've been in Newcastle, in 1978, visiting your Northumbrian bard, Bunting. I hope some day to get back there and thank you face to face for your interest in printing my work.'
- 27 Apr 1975. Typed letter, Kleinzahler to Hodgkiss, supplying the order of the poems. 'I was deeply saddened to hear Basil finally cashed in his chips' (Bunting died 17 Apr).
- 27 Apr 1975. Autograph postcard, Kleinzahler to Hodgkiss, clarifying that the title has 'no space twixt words and ampersand'.
- 17 May 1985. Invoice from Galloping Dog Press to Alan Halsey for 20 copies of Klondyke (Halsey) and 3 copies of Dainties (Kleinzahler); on the verso, a note from Halsey regarding booksales matters.

Moyer Bell will be resetting the Oxford book and adding Ode #12 at Basil's request, previously published in Agenda but in a different version, and not in the Oxford.'
