Twelve-sheet prismatic compass traverse series covering William Harold Ingrams's 750-mile expedition from Mukalla to Saihut through the eastern Aden Protectorate hinterland; also includes car routes around Mukalla and Shibam. Portrays hydrology, relief by spot heights and form lines, roads and tracks, settlements, wells, significant landmark feaures, tribal boundaries, place names and the traverse and car routes, and includes topographical and logistical notes. Maps drawn by Sapper A H Lock R E.
The variants 'Saihut' and 'Seihut' are both used on the map.
'Freya Stark traverses practically the same route. Her Book W[ar].O[ffice]. Lib[rar]y. 172/1120.' - War Office ledger.
The War Office ledger also lists a 160-page 'route report' which was not present on transfer.
