Contents:
A genealogical diagram of the kings of England consisting of a series of rectangles containing names of monarchs joined by lines of descent. On the left, the genealogy of the Anglo-Saxons begins from Egbertus with the Dukes of Normandy from Rollo to William the Conqueror in the centre. The two lines join with the marriage of Matilda of Scotland to Henry I. A third line on the right traces the lineage of the Counts of Blois and Chartres ending with Stephen of Blois who married Matilda, daughter of Henry I. The central line branches into five at Edward III to show the competing dynasties in the Wars of the Roses, and rejoins at the marriage of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, ending with Henry VIII (r. 1509-1547).
Decoration: A diagram in brown with lines of descent shaded in yellow for dukes of Normandy and the main line of English kings, in red for Anglo-Saxon kings, and in dark brown for Counts of Blois and Chartres. Red and brown are also used for subsidiary branches. The colours run alongside one another when the branches join.
