Hāshīyah ʿalá Risālah fī nisbat al-taʾlīf حاشية على رسالة في نسبة التأليف
'Aṭṭārī,ʿAbd al-Munʿim Muḥammad عطاري، عبد المنعم محمد
- Scope & Content:
-
Supercommentary (حاشية) by ʿAbd al-Munʿim Muḥammad al-ʿAṭṭārī (عبد المنعم محمد العطاري, dates unknown) on a short treatise by the physician Fakhr al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Khujandī (فخر الدين محمد بن محمد الخجندي, fl. 14th century) discussing proportions in music. Al-Khujandī's work incorporates a passage on the relationship between the human pulse and musical proportions from the Canon of Medicine (القانون في الطبّ) by Abū ‘Alī al-Ḥusayn ibn ‘Abd Allāh (أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله), known as Ibn Sīnā (ابن سينا, latinised as Avicenna, 980-1037). The title of the present work is given on the volume's contents page as Risālat ʿAbd al-Munʿim (رسالة عبد المنعم, f. 1r and see reference on f. 156r, line 10). The role of al-ʿAṭṭārī is not mentioned by Shiloah who attributes the text directly to al-Khujandī [Shiloah, Amnon, The theory of music in Arabic writings (c. 900-1900): Descriptive Catalogue of Manuscripts in Libraries of Europe and the U.S.A. (Munich: G. Henle Verlag, 1979), pp. 250-51].
The copy was transcribed in Shāhjahānābād (Delhi) on 23 Rabīʻ I 1075/14 October 1664 and collated with the exemplar five days later (see colophon, f. 156, transcribed below).
Begins (f. 153v, lines 1-2):

Ends (f. 156r, lines 9-10):
