The correspondence in this volume consists entirely of letters addressed to Francis Fowke and his family. Most of the letters are from his sister Margaret, now Lady Walsh. In 1787 Margaret married John Benn; in 1795 her uncle John Walsh died and left his property to her in trust for her eldest son (not then born). Her husband then took the name of Walsh and, in 1804, he was made a Baronet.
There are 32 undated letters, which are believed to relate mostly to the period 1806-1807.
