Contract drawn up in the notarial office of Pathyris by Hermias, agent of the notary Paniscus, recording the sale of a vineyard in the northern part of Pathyris from Galates, son of Pelaias, an iron-worker, to Peteharsemtheus, son of Panebchounis, at the price of 4000 drachmas. With summary of the deed (scriptura interior, originally rolled up and sealed) in column 1 and original clay seal, showing a head turning to the right, with horn and diadem (probably Alexander) (TM Seal 891).

Papyrus sheet, almost complete, with damage along the upper edge and in the lower right corner; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blak. There are two columns, the first of 13 lines, the second of 12 broad lines; sheet-joins from top to bottom are visible. Upper, lower, left margins survive. The original clay seal is preserved. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Script: Thin, rapid and rough cursive hand; lines tend to incline upwards.

Provenance: Pathryis (Gebelein), Egypt. Purchased with a lot comprising papyri 1200-1520 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 20 November 1903.
