- Scope & Content:
- Two copies of a return from two village heads (komarchai), listing individuals nominated for the water-control (hydrophylakia); written by Aurelius Anubas. The recipients are lost, but were Flavius Olympiodorus alias Asyncritius and Achilleus, superintendents of the dykes (see Papyri 1247 and 1248).

Two papyrus sheets, written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank; mounted on cardboard in the same glass frame.
Left papyrus (A): Broken off at the top and damaged by insect holes throughout; one column of which 24 lines survive; part of the left margin remains, the lower is extant and measures 70 mm, and no margin was left to the right.
Right papyrus (B): Broken off at the top and mutilated especially on the left-hand side; one column of which portions of 31 lines remain. Left and lower margins partly survive, and no margin was left on the right.

Script: Proficient, thin cursive hand, with a slight slant to the right.

Provenance: Hermopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased with a lot comprising Papyri 1200-1520 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 20 November 1903.
