The manuscript is composed of a text of palm leaves numbered from 1 to 92 on which 404 are inscribed; the text is incomplete. The condition of the manuscript is good; the leaves n°54-57, 65-73; 79-82 and 89 were lightly bitten by rodents so as some scripts are missing.
The text deals with 64 types of fever (curam) for which it informs on symptomatology, diagnosis and treatment.
The symptoms which are mentioned concerns dryness of tongue, urine colored in red, eyes and stools colored in yellow, increase of pitta, bitterness in mouth, and ulceration in mouth and throat.
The types of fever described in the text are: vāta cīta curam, pitta curam, pitta kuṇam, vāta pitta curam, caṉṉi curam and viṣa curam. The formulas provided for treating fevers are: Vāta cura kuṭinīr, Cīta pitta cura kuṭinīr, Caṉṉi vāta cura kaṣāyam, Pitta aticāra kiyāḻam and vāta-pitta-cilēṟpaṉa kiyāḻam, Cintāmaṇi nilaikku, Nañju tiṉṟāl māttirai, Caṉṉi vāta kuḷikai, Kuḷir kuḷikai for treating viṣa curam, as well as decoctions (kuṭinīr and kaṣāyam) for treating mānta curam in children, kuḷir vetuppu, fever due to pitta and cilēṟpana imbalance and to delirium, a gruel (kañci) for calming thirsty caused by fever (curattil tākam), a kuḷikaṉ (medicinal category not identified) against fever associated to vāta imbalance, and diverse dry plant powders (cūraṇam), medicated oils (eṇṇey) and ghī (ney).
This text provides some information on diseases and disorders such as nasal diseases and sinusitis, cough, indigestion in children, gastric ulcer, dysentery, abdominal colic, ascites, nausea, wounds, growths, and giddiness, for which it describes clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, it evokes post-natal care.
Size of the manuscript: 32.5cm x 4.1cm. The manuscript starts with two palm leaves without numbers, the leaves are then numbered from 1 to 92; the text is incomplete. The manuscript is lightly damaged by rodents, notably the 8 first leaves and leavesfrom 54 to 83.
