The manuscript comprises two texts which are anonymous. The manuscript is in good condition except for the three first leaves which were bitten by rodents.
Text 1- The text, written in verses, has 15 palm leaves numbered between 10 and 24; it is incomplete. It describes the formulations of Koḻi kaṣāyam and Totai kaṣāyam, Totai ney, Vacaveṇṇai, Tārai and Pūcu maruntu as well as some preparations of kaṣāyam and a medicated oil (eṇṇey) and a gruel (kañji), for treating fractures (muṟivu nōykaḷ).
Text 2-The title of the text is Maruntu Vākaṭam. The term vākaṭam derives from the Vākpaṭṭar, an Ayurvedic practitioner who is author of Aṣṭāṅka Hritayam.
The text, written in prose, contains 33 palm leaves numbered from 25 to 57; it is complete. It describes diseases, formulations of medicines, raw materials used in formulation, appropriate day and time for consuming medicines, and dietary prescription. The formulations are: medicated oils (eṇṇey) for healing fracture (muṟivu) and headache (talaivali) and Carvāṅka eṇṇey for treating children’s diseases; a decoction (kiyāḻam) and a medicine (maruntu) used in varma practice for treating injured vital spots; a medicated oil, Koṭuvēli tailam, for treating vāta imbalance; medicines (maruntu) for treating chill (kuḷir), wounds (puṇ), scabies (ciraṅku), abdominal colic (kukkuṭa vāyu), colic pain (cūlai), gastric irritation (vayṟṟu ericaḷ), food poisoning (uḷ neñcu nōy), venereal diseases (mēkam tīra), burning micturation (nīr kaṭṭu) and diseases related to imbalance of the three humors. The text describes a medicated oil to massage children. Additionally, the text presents the clinical characteristics of tuberculosis (cayaṅkaḷ) and wheezy bronchitis (cātā kācam) and the types of fever (kāyccal) related to injuries of vital spots.
Size of the manuscript: 33.5cm x 3.4cm. The palm leaves of the text 1 are numbered with Arab numerals from 10 to 24; the text is incomplete as it misses the first leaves. The palm leaves of the second text are numbered from 25 to 57, 57 is the end of the text. The manuscript is in excellent condition, excepted for the three first leaves which are damaged by rodents.
