Title in original script: வைகுண்ட அம்மானை
The manuscript is formed of a text containing 186 palm leaves numbered from 23 to 232. Its condition of the manuscript is very good. The text, entitled Vaikuṇṭa Ammāṉai, relates a part of the epic of the Mahābhārata, especially when the Pandava, after the war, left the Dharma’s kingdom and reached Vaikunda, the place of residence of Lord Kṛṣṇa. The text expresses the glory of Lord Kṛṣṇa and exposes some principles of morality: the good and bad actions people did during the present Kāli yuga. The text is an ammāṉai, a type of poetry in Tamil literature.
The manuscript specifies that the text was written by Aḻakiya Nākaliṅkam Piḷḷai, son of Ammaiyappa Piḷḷai who resided at Ramanathapuram for Rāmacāmi Reṭṭiyār, son of Renkappa Reṭṭiyār and grandson of Ovi Reṭṭiyār who lived at in the village of Pōṭinayakkampatti. It provides details on Ramasamy Rettiyar’s birth which had occurred 29 Tai (mid-January-mid-February) of the year Tuṉmuki varuṣam (1837) at 9 AM.
The last leaf of the text mentions that the person who borrows this ammāṇai and reads it, has to return it compulsory to its owner, and ends by a prayer (tuṇai) to Mīnātci Amman, the goddess of Madurai.
Size of the manuscript: 41.5cm x 3.5cm. The palm leaves are numbered from 23 to 232; leaves which are missing: 157-159; 162; 167; 171-173; 175; 177-178; 190-191; 193; 197; 199; 203; 214-215; 224; 226-227 and 229-230. The verso of the last 50 leaves has Arab numbers written with feltpen which do not match to the Tamil numbering of the text. The condition of the manuscript is very good.
