The manuscript is composed of 30 palm leaves coming from two texts. It is fragile and its condition is average. The leaves are broken and/or damaged by rodents.
Text 1- The text is formed by 17 palm leaves numbered between 366 and 403. It is written in prose. It describes preparations of medicines and informs on the diseases they treat. The medicines, which are not named, aim at treating malignant growths (puṟṟu) in penis (liṅka) and vaginals (yōṉi), ulcers due to growths (kiranti puṇ) and those associated with venereal diseases (paraṅki puṇ), jaundice (ūtu kāmālai), fever (kāyccal), stomach ache (vayiṟṟu vali), intestinal worms (kēri puḻu), tooth ache (palvali), wounds in lips (utaṭu puṇ), eye diseases (kaṇ nōykaḷ), night blindness (mālai kaṇ), pain in eyes (kaṇ vali), eczema (karappāṉ), ring worm infection (paṭar tāmarai), scabies (coṟi ciraṅku), bleeding carbuncle (ratta vippuruti). The text presents medicines (maruntu) for healing diverse poisonous bites (kaṭi) such as those of centipede (ceyyāṉ), scorpion (centēḷ), rats (eli; 18 types), dog, tiger, bear and pig, as well as a medicated oil (tailam) for treating wounds (puṇ).
Text 2- The text is constituted of 13 palm leaves numbered from 405 to 430. Written in verses, it explains preparations of Nāka paṟpam, of a medicine (maruntu; not named) for treating 18 types of rat bites (eli kaṭi 18), children’s diseases (piḷḷai piṇikkaḷ), a skin disease (cōrai kuṭṭam), hiccup (vikkal), as well as poisoning considered as due to poison hidden in food for harming a person (maruntīṭu).
The text provides the method to obtain pure copper from blue vitriol (turucu cempu) and from copper sulphide (kantaka cempu). It presents also some mantiraṅkaḷ used to control bad spirits (pēy kaṭṭu), to practise magical acts (viṉōta muṟai), to improve male potency (vintu viḷaiya), to make an infertile woman pregnant (piḷḷai illāmal iruppavar), and also to increase the agricultural production (vayal viḷaiya).
Size of the manuscript: 27.0cm x 3.0cm. The text 1 is formed of 17 palm leaves numbered 366, 371 to 373, 375, 380, 384, 387, 388, 391, 394, 395, 397, 399 to 401 and 403. The text 2 is formed of 13 leaves numbered 405, 407-410, 415, ?,419, 420, 423, 424, 429 and 430. The manuscript is fragile and in average condition. The leaves are broken and/or damaged by rodents.
