The manuscript contains a text composed of the 17 palm leaves which are numbered from 1 to 36 and of a leaf which has no longer a number. The manuscript is in good condition; a few leaves are bitten by rodents, broken or damaged by larvae, but the reading of the text is not affected.
The text, written in verses, describes formulation of medicines by indicating the quantity of raw material, the appropriate posology and adjuvant, and the diseases for which they are recommended. It contains also some notes on the siddha practice of the author of the manuscript whose the name is not mentioned.
The formulations, including a few belonging to ayurvedic pharmacopeia, concern:
Dry plant powders: Tāḷcapattiri cūraṇam, Cantirikā cūraṇam and Vilvāti cūraṇam.
Medicated oils: Vāluḻuvai tailam, Veṇpuracu tailam, Amukkarā tailam, Cīṉappa tailam and Āma tailam; as well as oils (eṇṇey) for treating all types of delirium (caṉṉi), eye diseases (kaṇ nōy) and eczema (karappāṉ)
Electuary: Ātraka lēkiyam.
Calcined white medicines prepared from metals and minerals: Apraka paṟpam, Tāḷaka paṟpam, Nāka raca paṟpam, Nāka paṟpam and Cātiliṅka paṟpam; Muppu cuṇṇam and Maṭal tuttam cuṇṇam; Liṅkam veḷḷai.
Calcined red medicines prepared from metals and minerals: Paccai centūram, Aya centūram and Raca centūram
Pills: Akkiṉi kumāraṉ māttirai and Celamañcari
Stone like medicines: Liṅka kaṭṭu, Māltēvi kaṭṭu and Navāccāra kaṭṭu.
Wax-like medicines: Kantaka Vālaraca meḻuku
Medicines obtained by sublimation: Paraṅki paṭṭai pataṅkam
Medicines (not categorised) for treating poison bites (viṣam), enlargement of lymph nodes in neck region (kaṇṭamālai), abdominal distension (ūtu kaṇai), fistula (pavuttiram), piles (mūlam, mūla rōkam) and infertility in women (malaṭi), as well as eye drops (kaṇṇiliṭum maruntu) for treating eye diseases.
Additionally, the text presents a product, called viñcai, which is supposed to increase the potency of remedies.
Size of the manuscript: 26,0cm x 3,6cm. The text contains 17 palm leaves numbered from 1 to 37; the leaves 3, 4, 11, 14, 15, 17, 22 and from 24 to 36 are missing, and a leaf severely damaged and without numbering placed at the end. The manuscript is damaged by larvae and rodents and some leaves are partly broken.
