The manuscript is composed of 19 palm leaves on which 4 texts are written. The manuscript is in average condition. The leaves are slightly affected by larvae and strings of insects’ eggs, leaf numbered 14 being very damaged.
Text 1- The text, written in verses, is entitled Vātavūrār Purāṇam. Constituted of 13 leaves numbered between 1 and 26.
This anonymous text is a part of the Tiruviḷaiyāṭal Purāṇam, authored by Parañcōti Muṉivar, which comprises sixty-four stories. Each story relates the glory and graces of the god Cokkanātar, the name of Ṥiva who presides a major temple situated in the town of Madurai, to his devotees. This present story, Vātavūrār Purāṇam, concerns the graces that Ṥiva bestowed to Māṇikkavācakar, one of his great devotees who wrote Tiruvācakam, one of the stories of the Tiruviḷaiyāṭal Purāṇam.
Text 2- The text, entitled Cuppiramaṇiyar Mantra, is formed by a leaf without a number; it is incomplete. The text is written in Sanskrit verses (śloka) and prose. It mentions a mantiram which is chanted to Murukāṉ.
Text 3- The text, entitled Tacakāriyam, is composed of 3 leaves numbered 4, 9 and 12. The text carries information on philosophy. The text explains that to attain salvation, individuals have to satisfy his/her guru, to get his/her blessing, and to follow the rules enounced in the Veda. A guru is supposed to have the ability to predict the fate of a child at the embryo stage and concomitantly, has the power to help a person to get rid of evil.
Text 4- The text, entitled Tēvi Akaval Maṟṟum Mantira Tiruppukaḻ is formed by 2 leaves without a number; it is incomplete. The text, written in verses, describes the glory of the goddess Cakti. It mentions the holy letters (bījākṣaram) to praise Cakti and presents a mantiram, which is incomplete, to invoke the glory of Ṥiva (mantra tiruppukaḻ).
Size of the manuscript: 23,5cm x 3,4cm. The 13 palm leaves of the text 1 are numbered between 1 and 26; the text 2 has a palm leaf without a number; the text 3 has three leaves numbered 4, 9 and 12; and the text 4 has two leaves. The manuscript is in average condition. The leaves have been affected by larvae and strings of insects’ eggs, the leaf n° 14 being very damaged.
