The manuscript is made up of a text of palm leaves numbered from 1 to 5 in an unconventional manner (hyphens); the leaf n° 2 is missing. The leaves are in good condition, slightly damaged by larvae.
The text, written in verses, deals with materia medica, preparation of medicines and diseases.
Concerning materia medica, the text mentions the use of unripe fruits of Cocus nucifera (tēṅkāy), and fruits of Momordica Charantia (pāvākkāy), Cucurbita maxima (paṟaṅki), Solanum melongana (kattari), Mangifera indica (māmpaḻam) and Limonia acidissima (viḷāmpaḻam); and animal products: honey (tēṉ), hen (kōḻi), hens egg (kōḻimuṭṭai) and fish varieties (mīṉ vakaikkaḷ).
The medicinal formulations concern two decoctions (kaṣāyam) against diarrhoea (aticāram), prolonged fever (nāḷ ceṉṟa curam), medicines (maruntu; not named) to treat venereal diseases (piramiyam), gastritis with vomiting (cattikuṉmam), fever that affects lymph of the seven physical constituents (vaḻalai curam), types of fever due to pitta imbalance (pitta curam), and to reduce the sense of heat (uṭal kāccal).
The text exposes the clinical characteristics of patients with diarrhoea (pēti) caused by food poisoning (ovvāmai). It specifies the acts which have to be avoided at the time of consumption of medicines.
Size of the manuscript: 39,0cm x 3,4cm. The text has 4 palm leaves with an unconventional numbering. the leaf n° 2 is missing. The leaves are in good condition, slightly damaged by larvae.
