This volume contains burial records of freed (forro) and free individuals registered in the Church of São João Batista (Baptista) de Icaraí (Carahy, Carii, Carahi) between 17 Jul 1872 and 27 Dec 1874. The opening and closing charters were signed by João da Costa Lima e Castro, Judge of Law of the First Civil Court, on 11 Jul 1872. The volume records, among others, the burials of freed individuals with enslaved mothers; Portuguese and Italian individuals; First Naval Lieutenant André de Paula Lima (4V); First Lieutenant Francisco Pereira do Valle (18V); Appellate Judge (Desembargador) Vicente Ferreira da Silva Bueno (42F); Captain Francisco Forquato de Souza Caldas (54F); Baron of São Gonçalo Belarmino Ricardo Siqueira (60V-61F); Frigate Captain Silvino José de Carvalho Rocha (52F); Luiz Hypolito de Azevedo Coutinho, Captain of the Police Corps (73F); Frigate Captain Jozé Antonio de Oliveira Bastos (74F); Baron of Araguary (Araguari) João Maria Wandenkolk (75V); First Naval Lieutenant João Evangelista Bandeira Machado (80V); and Baron of Saquarema José Pereira dos Santos (90F). African ethnonyms/"nations" mentioned: Cabinda, Mina, Angola. Entries were signed by the following clergy: Vicar Antonio Gomes Xavier and Canon Vicar Antonio da Imaculada (Imm.da) Conceição.
