This volume contains slave marriages registered in the church of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda de Guapimirim, Guapimirim, Rio de Janeiro. There are no opening or closing charters. Entries date from 17 February 1749 through 26 July 1762. The entries were signed by the following priests: Antonio Ribeiro Rangel; Vicar José Simões da Motta; Vicar José Teixeira; Vicar Luiz Caetano Guerreyro de Souza. Freed (forro) and enslaved individuals appear as witnesses in the registers; the following African ethnonyms (nações) are mentioned: Benguella (Benguela), Mina, and Guiné (Guinea). The volume records numerous marriages transacted by slaves belonging to one Francisco Ribeiro Guerra.
Physical characteristics: The volume has 10 unnumbered folios. There is no cover; the pages have holes caused by insect damage. Dimensions: 32cm X 26cm.
