The volume records baptisms of children born to enslaved mothers after the passage of Law 2.040/1871 (the "Free Womb" Law") registered in the church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção de Cabo Frio, RJ. Entries date from 29 Oct 1871 through 18 Aug 1887. The opening and closing charters were signed by Antonio André Lins em 01 May 1872. A number of slaves belonging to commander Antonio Garcia da Roza Terra appear in the volume. The following clergy signed the entries: Parocho José Francisco Marques and Pro Parocho Luiz da Santa Roza.
Physical characteristics: The volume consists of 198 numbered folios. It has a cover and is in a good state of conservation. Folios 149v through 198 are blank.
