The volume records marriages of enslaved, freed (forro), free, and indigenous people registered in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção de Cabo Frio, RJ between 11 Aug 1879 and 06 Aug 1925. Claudio da Costa Guimarães signed the opening and closing charters and initialed each folio in the volume. Among others, the volume records marraiges of Portuguese individuals; between enslaved and freed people; freed people with enslaved parents. Entries were signed by the following clergy: Parish priest José Francisco (Fran.co) Marques, Vicar Alexandre (?), Vicar Cipriano Bernardt, Vicar Antonio Chiromonse, Diogo Freitas O. F. M., Canon Vicar José Joaquim de Britto, Vicar Vicente Teneza Gallach, Vicar Joaquim Dias da Costa, Vicar Paulo Itamile, and Father José Duarte Nunes.
Physical characteristics: The volume is comprised of 196 numbered folios in good condition with a cover; a few folios are torn and/or show signs of insect and ink damage. Dimensions: 34cm X 23cm.
