The volume records slave baptisms registered in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Rio Bonito, Rio Bonito-RJ. The opening charter is dated 19 Jun 1826 and was signed by Manoel (?) Araujo; the closing charter and date are illegible and were signed by André Victorino de Oliveira. The entries date from 20 Feb 1828 to 19 Dec(?) 1842. The following priests signed the entries: Vig. Antonio Maria Ribas Sandim; Vig. Interino Manoel Machado da Motta; Vig. Tito Pereira de Carvalho; Vig. Encomendado Bernardo Antonio Lima de Velasco. On folio 232v, there is a register of a "donation" of an enslaved girl to the niece of her original owner in the baptismal act. Slaves owned by the following individuals appear: Captain Vicente José Gomes; Alferes Ignacio Henriquez de Souza; Captain José de Castro Cardozo; Major Ignacio Rangel de Marins Carilho; Captain Manoel Antonio Ferreira; Lieutenant Francisco de Paula Pereira.
Physical characteristics: The volume is comprised of 292 folios and a cover. It received treatment with Japonese paper; some parts are illegible. Dimensions: 32cm x 23cm.
