The volume records baptisms of children born to enslaved mothers after the passage of Law 2.040/1871 (the "Free Womb" Law). The opening and closing charters were signed by Antonio André Lima on 01 May 1872. Entries date from 01 Nov 1871 to 30 Jul 1881. Vicar Virtulino Bezerra Cavalcanti signed each entry. On the third-to-last folio, there is a stamp from a pastoral visit by the Archbishop of Niterói, D. Carlos Alberto Navarro, dated 02 Jul 1997.
Physical characteristics: The volume is comprised of 198 numbered folios which have come loose from the binding and have ink marks. Dimensions: 33cm x 23cm.
