The volume records baptisms of enslaved and free individuals registered in the Church of Nossa Senhora do Desterro de Itambi, Itaboraí, Rio de Janeiro. Entries date from 17 Feb 1703 through 02 Apr 1741. The opening charter was signed by one Costa on 13 Dec 1701, while the closing charter was signed by Gonçalo de Moura on 13 Aug 1733. The volume records baptisms of abandoned children (expostos) that occurred in the house of Father Zephyrino de Andrade Costa as well as baptisms of enslaved adults. It refers to slaves of Captain Francisco de Oliveira (?) and Captain Antonio Pereyra de Araujo. African ethnonyms mentioned: Guiné (Guinea), Mina. The volume notes pastoral visits that took place on 22 Oct 1729, 14 Oct 1733, 28 Jan 1337, and 28 Jan 1737. Entries were signed by the following clergy: Father Joaquim (?) da Fonseca Rangel, Joaquim Lopes Sodré, Father Custódio Cardoso Cortês, Father Severino de Andrade Costa, and Father Manoel (M.el) Beas.
