The volume records baptisms of enslaved people registered in the Church of São João Batista de Itaboraí between 17 Oct 1739 and 27 Mar 1751, though two folios pertain to the year 1759. There is no opening charter; the closing charter was signed by Dr. José de Souza Ribeiro de Araujo on 17 May 1739. It mentions a pastoral visit in December of 1742. The following clergy signed the entries: João Rebello de Barros; José do Couto; José Rodrigues Peixoto; Antonio Fonseca Pinto; Francisco de Santa Thereza; and Luis de Aguiar Menezes.
Physical characteristics: The volume consists of 138 numbered folios. Folios 90-95 and 113-136 are missing. It hs no cover; folios have been damaged by ink and insects. Dimensions: 30.5cm X 22.5cm.
