The volume records baptisms of enslaved people registered in the Church of São João Batista, Itaboraí - RJ, between 01 Sep 1828 and 22 May 1836. The opening charter was signed by José Caetano Pereira de Aguiar on 17 Jan 1827, while the closing charter was signed by Father José Gregório de Carvalho on 09 Nov 1827. There are a number of adult baptisms; some of the records concern slaves owned by Major João Manoel de Azeredo Coutinho; Major Cosme Botelho; Captain José Barboza Velho; and Major Manoel Gonçalves Leonardo. Entries were signed by the following clergy: José Gregório de Carvalho and Francisco Xavier Pena.
Physical characteristics: The volume consists of 139 numbered folios. It does not have a cover and has been damaged by insects. Dimensions: 40cm x 25.5cm.
