The volume contains burials of freed (forro) and free individuals registered in the Church of São João Batista, Itaboraí-RJ, between 23 Oct 1860 and 13 Dec 1871. Municipal Judge and of Chapels Cyrillo Nunes Fagos (?) signed the opening and closing charters in Itaboraí on 13 Aug 1861 and initialed the folios of the volume. Entries were signed by the following clergy: Vicar Joaquim (?) Marianno de Castro Araujo and Coadjutor Manoel Joaquim Dias. Among others, the volume records the burials of children (inocentes), individuals abandoned in the Santa Casa de Misericórdia (some with an identification number); Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian indivdiuals; Major Cosme Botelho de Velasco Coutinho. The cause of death was usually recorded. African ethnonyms/"nations": Mina and Benguela (Benguella). The burial records of freed people include two entries concerning ex-slaves of the Baron of Itapacorá and one entry concerning a "freed black woman" ("preta liberta") who was interred in the Chapel of Lieutenant Colonel Ignacio Balthasar. There is a record of an enslaved woman (fl 101f) that was signed later without effect, as can be seen on folio 111(f). The volume also documents the pastoral visit of Francisco, Bishop of Niterói, on 09 Jul 1894.
