- Papyrus sheet, broken off at the top and left, darkened in places and damaged along the folds; with insect holes in places. Written on one side across the fibres, the back being blank. There are 24 lines lacking the beginnings. The lower (60 mm) and right margins are extant. The sheet was rolled from bottom to top; sheet-joins running along the width are visible. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame

Dimensions: 335 x 303 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 410 x 365 mm.
Script: Coptic sloping uncial, with few ligatures; five hands for the subscriptions in Coptic, from line 14; upright cursive for the Greek subscription in the last line.

Provenance: Aphrodito, Antaiopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 2784-2849 as share from a joint purchase arranged with the University of Michigan, Yale University, Princeton University, Columbia University, and Wilfred Merton (b. 1888, d. 1957) from various dealers in November and December 1926, formally acquired in October 1927. Papyri 2823-2849 were purchased from Maurice Nahman (b. 1868, d. 1948).
