A fragment from a concertina. Another large part of the original concertina is found in the Pelliot collection at428. The beginning of the recto of the present manuscript joins to the end of the verso of428. Thedhāraṇīin question begins on the the recto side of428and runs to the end of that part of the manuscript, continuing on the verso, and concluding on our manuscript. The version of thedhāraṇīfound here is very similar to that found in thebka' 'gyur, with a few differences in terminology.

This prayer begins after thedhāraṇībut is incomplete at the end. It begins with eight lines of homage toVairocana, followed by the beginning of a homage toAvalokiteśvara(spyan ra gzig dbang 'jig rten mgon)

Apart from a few indecipherable syllables at the beginning of the verso of this concertina, the only writing is the title of this text, given in Tibetan and Sanskrit transcription, followed by the first two syllables of the text. For a discussion of this text seeIOL Tib J 351/3. The scribe seems to have abandoned the text, as this is followed by several blank folios. The end of the verso of this concertina joins with the beginning of the recto of428, which has two more blank folios before the beginning of theMārīcī-nāma-dhāraṇī(see Item 1).
