Complete copy of a sub-commentary not found in theBstan 'gyur. It is a sub-commentary on a commentary to theĀrya-ṣaṇmukha-nāma-dhāraṇī. Several copies of the commentary that is its focus, the'Phags pa sgo drug pa'i gzungs kyi rnam par bshad pa 3518attributed toVasubandhu, are found in the Dunhuang collections (seeIOL Tib J 428,IOL Tib J 429). Several copies of the rootdhāraṇīitself also are found in the Stein collection (seeIOL Tib J 426/1,IOL Tib J 427,IOL Tib J 432). The present item is attributed toYe shes byin(Jñānadatta). The colophon says it was translated by the IndianPaṇḍita DharmapālaandPrajñāvarmanand the Tibetan editor/translator monkYe shes sde. Note that the same names appear inIOL Tib J 428, as the translators of theVasubandhucommentary that is the focus of the present sub-commentary.
