Author:Incipit: R1.1@/_/rang bzhin gyi rnal 'byor nI/_/sems dang sems snang ba'i chos thams cad dam/Mahāyoga commentary
This is a substantial, yet incomplete commentary, lacking title or colophon. The subject of the commentary is apparently a tantra (not identified). An unnamed commentary ('grel ba) is often cited, so the present text may be better described as a commentary on a commentary on a tantra. The subject matter isMahāyoga, and several of the tantras later included in Tibetan enumerations of eighteenMahāyogatantras are cited here. The tantras are:
(i)sangs rgyas thams cad dang mnyam par sbyor ba'i tan tra[Sarvabuddhasamāyoga-tantra] (P_8,P_9,Tb.402,Tb.403,Tb.404)
(ii)dbang chen bdus pa'i tan tra(Tb_595)
(iii)dpal mchog dang po'i tan tra(Tb_412)
(iv)gsang ba 'dus pa'i tan tra[Guhyasamāja tantra] (P_81,Tb_409)
(v)ri bo'i tan tra(probablyri bo brtsegs pa'i rgyud,Tb_411
(vi)gcig las phrin las tan tra(possiblygcig las 'phros pa'i rgyud, cf.P_2032
(vii)u pa ya pa sha[Upayapaśa-tantra] (P_458,Tb_416)
The commentary opens with a discussion of fouryogas: (i) the yoga of the nature (rang bzhin gyi rnal 'byor), (ii) the yoga of accomplishment (bsgrub pa'i rnal 'byor), (iii) the yoga of remaining in thesamaya(dam la gnas pa'i rnal 'byor) and (iv) the yoga subsequent to accomplishing thesamaya(dam tshig rjes su bsgrub pa'i rnal 'byor).
This is followed by another fourfold thematic set: (i) the great result ('bras bu chen po), (ii) the great accomplishment (grub pa chen po), (iii) the great merit (bsod nams chen po) and (iv) the great wisdom (ye shes chen po).
The commentary covers several other standard topics, such as the threekāyas, themantras andmūdras.
