The File is a volume containing various copies of the newspaper The Hindoo Patriot.
Extent and format of original material: One bound volume with 460 folio.
Physical characteristics: Pages 15 to 888. The pages are dusty, moth-eaten, acidic, torn, brittle, fragile dry, yellowed and damaged. Marks from fungal infestation, foxing and exposure to moisture are visible. The spine is loose. The edges of pages are brittle. Discolouration is apparent and the print is faded in many places. Both front and back covers are detached. There is some text in Bengali. There is also writing in pencil. Some text is lost due to the hard binding. Pages before pg 15 are missing. The print is misaligned on the paper. Pagination is irregular. Some page numbers are erroneously printed and unnumbered pages are also present. Monthly supplements, such as the ones on pages 1 to 4 often occur throughout the volume. Measurements (in cm): 41. 5 x 27 x 6 (with cover), 40. 5 x 26. 5 x 5 (without cover).
