The File is a volume containing various copies of the newspaper The Hindoo Patriot.
Extent and format of original material: One bound volume with 288 folio 1 leaf.
Physical characteristics: Pages 1 to 79 are pasted. Then pages 80 to 90, 1 to 4, 91 to 102, 1 to 4, 103 to 114, 1 to 4, 115 to 126, 1 to 4, 127 to 138, 1 to 4, 139 to 150, 1 to 4, 151 to 162, 1 to 4, 163 to 174, 1 to 4, 175 to 186, 3 to 4, 1 to 2, 187 to 198 to 1 to 4, 199 to 210, 1 to 2, 211 to 612. The pages are severely damaged and brittle, dusty, moth-eaten and yellowed. The spine is loose. Marks from fungal infestation, foxing and exposure to moisture are visible. Some pages are quite damp. Both front and back covers are missing. The first few pages could not be photographed because they are pasted together. There si writing in pencil. Text has been lost due to damage and the cutting of the pages. The print is occassionally faded. Monthly supplements, such as the ones on pages 1 to 4 often occur throughout the volume. Measurements (in cm): 41. 5 x 26 x 3. 8 (without cover).
