Two orders from Diodotus, from the estate of Norbana Clara, to Metocus, director of the granary (sitologos). With subscriptions of Gaius Iulius Salvus at the end of both orders.
Lines 1-9 (P.Lond. III 1214(a), TM 22839): Order to pay one artaba of wheat for one month to Diodotus and similarly one artaba of wheat to Sophus.
Line 10-end (P.Lond. III 1214(b); TM 22840): Order to pay four artabas of wheat for four months (Pharmouthi, Pachon, Pauni, and Epeiph) of the previous year.

Script: Two hands: Small, rapid cursive hand for the bodies of the documents, in lines 1-7 and 10-17; different hand for the subscriptions of Gaius Iulius Salvus in lines 7-9 and 18-20.

Provenance: Hermopolis (El-Ashmunein) (?), Hermopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased with a lot comprising Papyri 1200-1520 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 20 November 1903.
