- 1, pp. 1-3 (37 x 22.8 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Shattoor, 4 May 1767, from Donald Campbell to Council, Madras. Duplicate. Reports the capture of Shattoor, and complains of the worthlessness of the Nawab's troops.
- 2, pp. 5-9 (32 x 21 cm.). Letter, dated Camp near Shattoor by the Hills, 6 May 1767, from Donald Campbell to --. Original. Describes Shattoor, praises the gallantry of the besieged:- "It is certain that I never saw people of their colour behave with more intrepidity except the sepoys who attacked them -- whose gallantry and steadiness merit all the praise which can be bestowed "; complains of the Nawab's troops.
- 3, pp. 11-18 (23 x 18.5 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Wassinellore, 22 May 1767, from Donald Campbell to --. Original. Describes the capture of Wassinellore; mentions Mr. Peter Davidson, a Captain in the Nawab's service; describes the fort. In the postscript Campbell complains of the Nawab's rudeness in not replying to his letters, and his consequent inability to grant any terms to the rebels lest the Nawab should disown them.
- 4, pp. 19-24 (23 x 18.5 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Shevegurry, 11 May 1767, from Donald Campbell to --. Original. Says that he has found Sivagiri abandoned; describes the place which he says contains 10,000 houses; says that all the people have fled, and that unless a better system of government is established by the Nawab there will be no cultivation, and the whole district will be ruined; ascribes the state of affairs to "the corruption or incapacity, or both, which are so visible among the persons to whom he [i.e., the Nawab] has entrusted the management of them."
- 5, pp. 27-31 (32 x 21 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Wassinellore, 26 May 1767, from Donald Campbell to --. Original. Mentions the capture of other Forts, and explains his inability to grant any terms to the Colleries (i.e., Kallans) by his uncertainty as to the Nawab's wishes, and his conviction that the Nawab will not only not confirm any promises Campbell may make, but will not even keep his own promises.

- 10, pp. 53-58 (37 x 23 cm.). Letter, dated Paleamcotah, 18 July 1707, from Donald Campbell to --. Original. Explains why he has sent a copy of the Country Accounts to the Board, and describes the oppression suffered by the people at the hands of the Nawab’s servants in order to extort money from them. The Accounts referred to are possibly those given in 49.3 above.
- 11, pp. 61-64 (38 x 24 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Tourincourchy, 6 August 1767, from Donald Campbell to --. Original. Says that he is seriously ill - the effect of a wound which he received on the 3rd Sept. 1763 during the first siege of Madura, and asks his friend to explain matters to the Council; says that the corps of lascars has very seriously deteriorated since the siege of Madura, and also the water-carriers of the European companies. These men were formerly Musulmans, but the latter had been replaced by Pariahs.
