- 1, pp. 1-4 (24 x 18.5 cm.). Letter, dated Camp near Mallugary (?), 15 April 1768, from John Wood to [John Call]. Original. Says that the army is suffering much from sickness. That this letter is addressed to Call is shown by the reference to Wood's house at Madras. See No. 6 below.
- 2, pp. 5-10 (24 x 18.5 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Shandemunglum (?), 5 May 1768, from John Wood to --. Original. Probably addressed to John Call. Says that he could easily carry out his orders if the Council would only provide the proper materials; the pay of troops is in arrears; advises the making of peace with Haidar, whose officer, Lala Meah (? Lal Mir) has written to him to try to make peace.
- 3, pp. 13-15 (24 x 18.5 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Newaire (?), 25 May, 1768, from John Wood to Colonel --. Original. Probably addressed to Col. Joseph Smith. Gives some details about Lala Meah, Haidar's son-in-law.
- 4, pp. 17-19 (24 x 18.5 cm.). Letter, dated Camp before Caroud, 7 June 1768, from John Wood to --. Original. Probably addressed to John Call. Explains that the more forts they take the weaker the army becomes by the number of men employed on garrison duty.
- 5, pp. 21-25 (37.5 x 24 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Coimbatore, 9 July 1768, from John Wood to Council, Madras. Duplicate.
- 6, p. 29 (21 x 16 cm.). Letter, dated Camp at Doducome (?), 6 August 1768, from John Wood to John Call. Original. Gives him notice that he will require his house at Madras for his own family.
- 7, pp. 31-34 (30 x 21 cm.). Letter, dated Camp near Payne (?), 11 August 1768, from John Wood to --. Original. Probably addressed to Call. Says that, during the engagement at Sattimunglum the baggage of the army was plundered by the Nawab's troops and camp-followers; that he is sick of the service and longs to retire.
