- Scope & Content:
- Petition to the epistrategus Claudius Xenophon submitted by Orsenouphis, son of Orsenouphis, from Tebtynis, complaining about his nomination as a collector of money-taxes (praktor argyrikon), which he is unable to sustain owing to his financial situation and poor health. Orsenouphis explains that some years before he was appointed village elder, but was released from the office because of his lack of means. The public notice of Phocion, strategus of the Arsinoite nome, divisions of Themistos and Polemon, issued in 168 AD and releasing him from the office, is enclosed. A copy of this notice is preserved in P.Mil.Vogl. inv. 777.

- Papyrus sheet, complete but damaged by insect-holes throughout; with minor abrasion in places and a dark stain on the left; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. The front bears two columns of 31 and 17 lines respectively. Margins partly survive. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.
