- Title:
- Resolution of a Dispute over a Payment (P.Lond. V 1731, TM 19746)
- Scope & Content:
- Tsone's parents divorced during her childhood. Although her father, Menas, had given her mother, Tapia, four solidi for her maintenance, Tapia "cast her out" upon her remarriage and Tsone was, in fact, supported by her father. He would have died while she was yet a minor and, apparently lacking other support, she entered a nunnery. Upon reaching adult age, she sued her mother for the four solidi from which she had never benefited. Despite Tapia's argument that the four solidi were rightfully hers as dowry returned to her upon her divorce, she agreed to pay them to her daughter. Tsone here acknowledges receipt of the money and upon penalty of one gold ounce renounces all future claims.
