- Title:
- Letter of Introduction from the Archive of Zenon (P.Lond. VII 1946, TM 2380)
- Scope & Content:
- Letter to Nicanor from Hierocles introducing the bearer of the letter, Apollodorus, who is sailing to Herakleopolis. Hierocles asks Nicanor to make further introductions and offer any assistance that may be needed. The address on the back reads ‘to Zenon’, as it was accidentally swapped with that of Papyrus 2681 (P.Lond. VII 1945), another letter of introduction by Hierocles for Apollodorus to Zenon, wrongly addressed to Nicanor. Fragments of the original seal (TM Seal 971) still survive.
