- Letter to Apollonius from the Archive of Zenon (P.Lond. VII 1948, TM 1511)
- Scope & Content:
- Letter to Apollonius, minister of finances (dioiketes), from Glaucias, who confirms that he has passed on Apollonius’ instructions to Nicanor and Antiochus, and reports on the inspection of Apollonius’ estate in Palestine, which appears to be prospering under Melas’s management. Glaucias also had a taste of the wine. The back bears the address and the docket including summary and date of receipt.

- Light-brown papyrus sheet, complete and well preserved, slightly damaged along the folds, bearing writing on both sides. On the front, there are 10 lines running across the fibres, the last line being indented; all margins are extant. The text on the back was written along the fibres in the lower left-hand corner, upside down in relation to the text on the front. It consists of one column of 4 lines and, next to it, another word. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Script: Fine, large chancery hand, thin and upright. Smaller cursive hand for the docket on the back.

Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 2652-2721 from Dr. A. N. Kondilios in July 1925. Part of a joint purchase with the University of Michigan and Columbia University.
