Palm leaf manuscript, in seven bundles, of the Mahāvaṁsa, originally written in Pāli in Laṅka in the fifth century AD. To what extent this retelling contains local adaptations would want careful reading. Text is in Mon, not Pāli. Donor name, scribe name etc not recorded on any of the colophons.
Extent: 7 bundles total, approximately 472 faces.
Condition of original material: Stylus-inscribed palm leaf manuscript with no ink rubbed into etchings. Legible and in good condition, complete and in order. Surface of some leaves rough.
Custodial history: Handwriting is Thai Mon, so manuscript is of local provenance.
