-
A general treatise on horsemanship, arms and military skills in the tradition of the so-called 'Treatise B' of the ʿAbbasid furūsīyah master Ibn Akhī Ḥizām (ابن أخي حزام, d. ca 864, see citation and note about the incipit of the latter, with identical wording to the present text, in Al-Sarraf, Shihab, 'Mamluk Furūsīyah Literature and Its Antecedents', Mamluk Studies Review, 8 [Chicago: Middle East Documentation Center, The University of Chicago, 2004], pp. 141-200, p. 193 especially).
The first section, entitled 'Initial teaching on handling and manufacture of the lance, and on simulated combat exercises, solo manoeuvres and dispatches (?)' (ابتداء تعلم عمل الرمح وصناعته وعمل الموادين والبنود والتساريح, ff. 9r-23v) is heavily illustrated, but thereafter the majority of the planned illustrations, indicated by rubricated captions, were never completed.
The rest of the manual comprises numerous chapters (أبواب) on warcraft, archery, riding and horse management, solo lance manoeuvres (بنود, ff. 24r-29v) and dispatches (تساريح, ff. 29v-34r), and the use of different arms including the dabbūs (mace), kilāb (hook), qarbūṣ (saddlebow), tirs (small shield), and sword.
Illustrations:
- Twenty-nine diagrams illustrating different group combat exercises (موادين, ff. 9v-23v)
- Diagram of a battle trench (حندق, f. 35r)
- Unfinished diagram (f. 35v)
- Illustration of the dabbūs (mace, دبوس, f. 36v)

- Grenades (قوارير) whose use was taught to Alexander by Khidr (f. 83v)
- Arrow known as the māwī (ماوي, f. 84v), and a copy of the illustration by a different hand (f. 85r)
Begins (f. 2v, lines 1-3):
Ends (f. 95v, lines 2-6):
Colophon (ff. 95v, line 7-96r, line 3):
