Text-book on singing by pneumy (special marks for notes)
Uchebnik notnogo krykovogo penia
- Scope & Content:
-
A text-book comtains a "krjuk" alphabet, in which meanings of each mark are explained. The marks came to Russian church from Greek tradition. Using them one could write a common melody of the chant without exact distribution on tones and half-tones in a concrete key. The manuscript is connected with Pinezhskiǐ region (village Usachevka ?), Arkhangelsk district. The manuscript was written by Pheoktista Petrovna, an old believer - skritnitsa, who died in 1920.
Учебник представляет собой нотную крюковую азбуку, в которой раскрыты значения отдельных музыкальных знаков. Эти знаки, воспринятые древнерусской церковью из греческой традиции, позволяют записывать общую мелодию распева без точного разложения на тона и полутона в конкретной тональности. Рукопись связана с Пинежским районом (деревней Усачевка?). Рукопись написана Фектистой Петровной, старообрядкой-скрытницей, умершей в 1920 г.
Extent: 1 volume in cardboard binding with material back containing 38 folios. There is a small envelope inset with examples for singing on the f. 34; f. 35 - 38 is a separate block not sewed into the manuscript .
